Neue 14C-Daten zum Frühneolithikum in Österreich

p. 97-116

Résumé

This article presents 32 new radiocarbon dates from Austrian Linearband Ceramics Culture (LBC). The main part of the dates comes from elder LBC sites: Brunn/Wolfholz (20), Rosenburg (7 from pit 198), a smaller part are dates of the younger LBC: Asparn (2 from a dwelling) and Rosenburg (3 from pit 242).

After a short overview of the situation of radiocarbon dating of the LBC in Europe, the above mentioned sites are briefly presented (Abb.1-4). Then a list of all available radiocarbon dates for LBC in Austria is given (45 dates). Calibration is done with the aid of CALIB - programm for calibration- from STUIVER M. - REIMER P. 1993. Three plots are done with the help of a new programm, using data resulting from CALIB. The first shows uncalibrated dates (Abb.5), the second calibrated dates after method A (Abb.6), the third after method B (Abb.7). In the latter part of the paper the results are discussed. Three groups are obtained: The first group contains only dates from elder LBC and is limited from 5480-5200 BC, the second group consists of dates of the elder and younger LBC 5280-4960 BC, the third group gives only dates of the younger LBC 4940-4560 BC. Main result in European context is the large number of dates from the first group. This supports the theories about West Hungarian - East Austrian origin of the LBC.
